A Film for People

João Enxuto & Erica Love

A Film for People is a short film-in-process about the entanglements between creative labor and the public and corporate sponsorship of art. Part documentary and part speculative fiction, the film focuses on sites in Portugal, where the artists are currently working. Here, it addresses the changing nature of work across three locations: a "creative urban complex" in Lisbon, the remains of a "smart city" near Porto, and an art & technology museum built by Energias de Portugal, an electric utility company that is the largest corporation in Portugal, and single largest funder of culture. Against this backdrop, corporate sponsorship is reinvented to align with the goal of fighting the climate crisis and saving humanity.
